Last Friday we were join by pupils from Toynbee VI Resource to run a VI Sports session.
This was a great opportunity for all involved. Instead of Mr Cownie setting up some activities he decided to ask the VI pupils from Toynbeee Secondary School to do it for him! And how they rose to the challenge!
We had a target game with an ever increasing point system...
Toynbee has a number of National Champions at 'Boccia', so their instruction and guidance was brilliant.
All the children, whatever the age or visual impairment were welcomed and had a go.
For some children more action was demanded! So over the school's obstacle course they went!
And then there were the 'die-hard' footballers. Before we knew it a small unofficial game had started, with cones for goal posts.
For many of our pupils who are looking to possibly move on to Toynbee at the end of Year 6, this was a great chance to ask questions of current pupils and also to meet other children who might move on to Toynbee from other schools.
Over on the big playground Tennis was being practised. This young man from Year 1 really enjoyed bouncing the ball high...then we just needed to find the ball!
As for the obstacle course some children needed encouragement from staff, however some staff also needed encouragement from the pupils!!!
And for a gentle break, in the sports hall the children had some musical listening games, which they were very very good at!
Thank You
to all the pupils from Toynbee, it was a fantastic afternoon where all the participants thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
