There was a special visitor in Reception, from a chicken coop far, far away! The children have been reading at the story of 'Chicken Licken' and Mrs Blair one of our Learning Support Assistants brought one of her chickens from home.....Princess Leia! All of children had a chance to get up close to Leia, including both of our Visually Impaired pupils. First hand experiences are brilliant opportunities for learning, for the Visually Impaired this is doubly so!
To understand what a chicken is, with feathers, wings, legs, feets and claws is tricky unless you have one to hand! Then with a little tactile explorarion and lots of talk, we can take a little step towards greater understanding about what is a chicken!!
