Dance

This afternoon the children took part in a Dance session provided by Beth Bennet, a student from the London Contemporary dance school.

The aim of the session was to observe the therapeutic effects of dance on visually impaired children- e.g improvement in personal or physical self-confidence. The children started with body warm-up exercises...

Then had a listen and respond session listening to music and talking about how it made them feel and how they might move their bodies if dancing.

Then the dancing began...!

The children experienced a variety of differnet music styles, exploring these using simple contemporary movement (more expressive to the individual rather than technical dance).

Beth had already been in school on a number of pre-visits to get to know all the children, and they all had a great time working with her. We would all like to say thank you to Beth for a really enjoyable afternoon.

  1. Really great to see the children having fun and learning dance at the same time. We notice the postive effect these OASIS VIP sessions are having on Olivia. She is becoming much more spacially aware and generally a lot more confident in physical activities. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing it. This website is great for parents to stay informed on how the children are learning to develop their skills. Thanks to all the staff at Kings Copse!
