Toynbee Paralympic Sports Day

Great excitement as we attach our team colours, despite the rain!
Accessible bikes. Not put off by the rain, all of the children try all of the different types of bike available.

Either with a partner or alone the children really enjoyed the freedom the bikes gave.

Boccia. A version of Boule, using heavy throwing balls. One team played using sleep shades and a fantastic tactile location board developed by Loughborough University.
We were astounded at how the children used this board to have a very close game.

Football skills. Great fun with the football coach.

Touch the ball with your head, toe and heal!!

Ending with a penalty shootout!
Rowing. A great resource which really got everyone working hard!
And the chance to compete at chasing fish.
Goal Ball. All the activities were led by qualified coaches who gave their time for free. Goal ball was also supported by a Toynbee VI student, who is in the GB team!
Learning defensive techniques.
A good throw, which scored a goal!
Thanks to Toynbee for a brilliant action packed day. It was inspirational for our pupils. They enjoyed all the sports offered and came away exhausted!

  1. Wow! What a brilliant idea. It looks as though you all had a great time. I wonder if any of you will be Olympic champions in the future?
